Ivan Viso

Ivan Viso is an abstract painter based in London, known for transforming vinyl records into one-off works of art.

Working directly on the surface of the vinyl, Ivan engages with the grooves in two ways: following them as a rythmic guide; and breaking them to disrupt the expected pattern. This interplay creates tension between structure and spontaneity that runs through all his pieces.

Colour is central to his practice. Using high-intensity inks, Ivan builds strong harmonic compositions of strong, intense colour where balance is diliberate. The inks bleed, layer and react on the plastic durface producing imagined forms that feel both organic and otherworldly. The original music on the record fades into memory, leaving only it's texture as part of the visual composition.

What drives the work is the sound & feeling that exists in Iván's mind. He paints from internal sonorities - emotions, rhythm and a sense of colour sophistication that guides each gesture. The vinyl becomes a score for a song that doesn't exist outside the painting process. Each piece turns a disgarded object into a new visual record, where surface, sound & feeling colide.
